TENNIS with Molly

Certified Tennis Coach and PE teacher Molly will show you the finer points of serves and strategies in tennis. If  you’ve never played before, or if you would like to up your game, Molly will teach you the techniques and the fun of the court.

FIELD GAMES with Emily

Wed 3:00-4:00pm

Get your body moving and have fun outside with Emily. Need to fill your PE credit, or would you just like to play around for an hour? Emily will guide you through outdoor games of capture the flag, kickball, tag and more.

SAFE SPACE with Ashleigh

Th 3:00-4:00pm

In Ashleigh’s Safe Space you can openly and honestly explore issues of identity, relationships, sexuality, ability and life stressors. Together, students will develop language, responses, and strategies for addressing real life situations.


Th 3:00-4:00 pm

Ever wanted to win a discussion, but you haven’t quite had the tools to do it? In Will’s minipod, students will learn the techniques of proper debate in a positive space. You will learn how to interrogate art and film, and build arguments that would impress Plato, Aristotle and Carol Off.

STUDENT COUNCIL with the students!

Our students make our community. Through the independent Student Council they raise matters that are important to them, make decisions about their every day, and and work to build an even better community for everyone at BrainBoost. In the past, Student Council has engaged in our snack program, popcorn Fridays, organized Sports Day, and advocated for the Hub’s Gay Straight Alliance.


Mon 3:00-4:00 pm – Room A – Target age: 13+

Sometimes you just gotta laugh, you know? Seasoned improv comedian Allie knows how to gain the attention of a room, and how to surprise an audience. Through games and exercises, Allie leads the minipod that will lower your shoulders, give you belly laughs and will let you know yourself and your peers better. Experienced dramatists and those brand new to theatresports are welcome to join this group of playful improvisationists.

PHILOSOPHY with Markie

Tue 3:00-4:00 pm – Pod Room A – Target age: 12+

Think about life’s big questions with Markie. From practical real-life ethical quandaries to more hypothetical discussions about general existence, this class will cover every and all topics concerned with our existence. He will bring in videos, readings and questions that will boggle your mind, and encourage you to think in new ways about the world and our place in it.


Tue 3:00-4:00 pm – Kitchen – Target age: 8-12

Sheena will take you on adventures amongst dragons, art and fantasy stories. Through games and exercises, students will explore many forms of creative output and also practice social interactions in a safe space.

YOGA with Michaela

Wed 9:00-10:00 am – Pod Room A -Target Age: 10+

Start your day with a focused mind and a good stretch. Michaela is an experienced yoga teacher, who will help you center your breath and gather your thoughts. Before a day of brain exercises, treat your body too.


Wed 3:00-4:00 pm – Kitchen/Pod Room B – Target age: 8-14

Allow yourself to be playful and curious through tabletop games. John will teach you new games and show you the winning strategies of Settler, Magic, Operation, Werewolf and many more. Not only will you and John explore the vast world of board games, but you’ll also venture into other types of role-playing games and possibly a video game or two…


Wed 3:00-4:00pm – Outdoors/Pod Room B Target age: 12+

Get your body moving and have fun outside with Emily. Need to fill your PE credit, or would you just like to play around for an hour? Depending on the season and group preferences, Emily will guide you through traditional outdoor favorite games like soccer and grounders, while also taking the group on other adventures like city walks, skating and other kinesthetic activities.


Th 3:00-4:00pm – Pod Room A –  Target age: 10+

Learn about the newest discoveries and scientific marvels! Martin will blow your mind with the wonderful world of science, providing you with cutting edge news and research, and maybe a demonstration or two!

CRAFTS with Ashleigh

Th 3:00-4:00 am – Kitchen/Pod Room B – Target age: All ages!

Check your stress at the door, and get your hands busy. Make cool stuff with Ashleigh, and learn crafty skills that you can take with you anywhere. From seasonal crafts to personal projects, Ashleigh will lead you through a variety of creations that will exercise your crafting muscles.


Wed 10:00-11:00 AM

Feel like you love poetry or lyrics? Feeling burnt out on essay writing, archaic odes, antiquated ballads? Can’t relate to a lot of the poems you read in English class? Join Curtis on Wednesdays mornings from 10-11 to simply enjoy poetry. Students will share their favourite poems, engage in conversations about what they like—and don’t like—about poems, and even have a chance to write and workshop their own original work.

To be eligible for credit for this class, students must be enrolled in an accredited distance learning program.
Students may withdraw up to 14 days after the start of the pod and receive a full refund for the class minus the cancellation fee of $100. After that time, the fees are non-refundable.
