William Munro

William’s love of the literary world is an essential part of his being; he was born in love with the word, and had he not loved it, he would not have been “him”. His passion for education came later, first discovered in his second year of university when he volunteered as a literacy tutor in Vancouver’s “inner-city” public schools. This experience has shaped his philosophy on education, which focuses primarily on compassion, and levity. His philosophy guides him in his teaching and it guided him through his degree in English Literature from the University of British Columbia. He is thrilled to be a part of the Brain Boost team, to be given the opportunity to contribute his own perspective to all levels of English and Socials, with a special focus on Creative Writing. Will’s favourite word is parataxis (ask him what it means!). He loves semicolons and modernist poetry. His favourite author changes every week, but is currently e.e. Cummings. In his spare time William writes poetry, most of which focuses on things like consciousness, the body, and just how strange everything is. He is obnoxiously optimistic, and utterly in love with humanity, though he would never admit that if you asked him.
